Round 5, Pick 143: Cheyenne O’Grady, TE, Arkansas

As things currently stand, tight end is a big need for the Jaguars. Starting tight end James O’Shaughnessy was recently ruled out for the year with a knee injury, while 2019 third-round pick Josh Oliver has yet to play an NFL snap due to injury as well.

While the team still expects Oliver to be impactful when he is finally healthy, it would be wise to add depth to that unit in the draft.

So in this Jaguars 2020 mock draft, I have the Jacksonville Jaguars taking Arkansas tight end Cheyenne O’Grady with their fifth-round selection.

In four seasons with the program, the 6-foot-4, 250+ pounder has totaled 76 receptions for nearly 900 yards and he’s pulled down 10 touchdowns.

O’Grady’s most famous play, however, ended up going viral this season after an unbelievable run against Colorado State where he broke free of five tacklers on his way to a huge touchdown for the Razorbacks to help put away a close game.

He does not go down easy, has prototypical size for the position in the NFL, deceptive speed after the catch and shows an advanced route tree that could lead to O’Grady being a real steal down the line with some refinement.

This would be another quality weapon to add to the mix for Jacksonville’s young offense.
