Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. WR. 2. 857. Colorado. Laviska Shenault Jr.. player

Laviska Shenault Jr. was once considered one of the premier wide receivers in the 2020 NFL draft class. Entering the season, he was even considered by some to be the top player at his position in the class.

A slow start to the season has cooled off the Shenault buzz in the draft community, but I am still a big fan of his ability on the field. Shenault is a physical freak at wide receiver, showing off a chiseled 6-foot-2, 220-pound frame and an impressive combination of size, speed and raw power.

More from Mock Drafts

Shenault is the kind of guy who you just want to get the ball on a consistent basis. He is an absolute playmaker at the wide receiver position who can create separation with his speed, catches nearly everything and is tremendous after the catch. Shenault can turn on the burners and leave the entire defense in the dust, but he is also an extremely powerful player who can be difficult to bring down in open space.

Shenault has legitimately elite play strength at the wide receiver position and he shows it off when smaller defenders try to take him to the ground. He can shrug off arm tackles with ease and shows tremendous natural contact balance.

In college, Shenault has been used all over the field. He plays outside receiver, slot receiver, running back, h-back and even wildcat quarterback. This guy is a true jack-of-all-trades and can make plays all over the field. Simply put, he is a guy who has consistent success with the ball in his hands.

The New York Jets need some more playmakers at the wide receiver position and Shenault is a playmaker in the truest sense. He is a great fit for this team, giving Darnold a potential number one receiver to work with.
