Georgia. 1. player. Pick Analysis. OT. Scouting Report. Andrew Thomas. 814

The New York Jets held the fourth overall pick in this mock draft. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young went off of the board with the first three picks.

With the Jets up next, the decision really came down to two talented prospects who would both fill a major need on their roster. I considered taking Ohio State cornerback Jeffrey Okudah here but ultimately landed on taking Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas.

Thomas is a tremendous left tackle prospect who is the best offensive lineman in the 2020 NFL draft class. He is a big and powerful player up front who easily moves defenders out of the way. Thomas is quick off of the ball and extremely powerful at the point of attack. His hand usage in the run game is good, as he does a nice job of clamping on to a defender and steering him where he needs him to go.

Thomas is also a quick and athletic offensive tackle, who mirrors in pass protection extremely well. He works hard to beat the edge rusher to his spot, setting up and getting into his pass pro sets quickly. Thomas also shows an accurate, powerful and well-timed punch that typically keeps opposing edge rusher off track.

To put it simply, Thomas is an elite-level offensive line prospect who could come in and protect Darnold’s blindside from the left tackle position immediately. The New York Jets find an extremely important piece with their first pick in this 2020 NFL draft scenario.
