2020 NFL Draft: Miami Dolphins seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft
In this 2020 NFL Draft scenario, the Dolphins do not hold the first overall pick. While they are probably the favorites to hold the first pick next April, there are certainly other bad teams who could also end up picking number one. Picking third overall, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was off of the board in this mock draft, making any quarterback selection tough here.
However, Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young, the second-ranked player on my big board, was available, making for an easy decision off of the top.

Young is an absolute freak on the edge who has an incredible combination of size, athleticism and power at the defensive end position. He is extremely quick off of the ball, incredibly powerful at the point of attack and bends around the edge with ease.
Young has taken his game to the next level for the Buckeyes this season, piling up 8.5 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss through the first six games. He has been absolutely unblockable on the outside and had has made a consistent impact no matter the situation.
When watching Young, it is easy to see his pass-rush upside. He has tremendous natural upfield burst and always has a solid pass-rush plan. Young is the kind of guy who can attack an offensive tackle with a variety of moves and have success a huge majority of the time.
However, do not sleep on his ability to defend the run. Young has really grown as a run defender this season, showing good overall hand usage and the combination of length and strength to set the edge. He can fly through the gaps and make plays in the backfield, but Young is starting to show a nice understanding of how to hold his own against the run and consistently take care of his gap responsibility.
When it comes down to it, Chase Young is one of the most talented players in the entire 2020 NFL draft class. He is an absolute star in the making on the defensive side of the ball and would give the Miami Dolphins a legitimate franchise cornerstone to build around.
