Collin Johnson, WR, Texas

Listed at 6-foot-6, 220 pounds, Collin Johnson is a massive wide receiver prospect who knows how to use his size to make plays on the outside. This guy is nearly impossible to beat at the high-point, as his combination of height and long arms allows him to snatch the ball out of the air well above most defenders.

More from NFL Mocks

Johnson does not have the most explosive speed on the outside, but he is not a slow player. He can still create separation on the outside against some cornerbacks, especially on deep routes. However, it’s not like he needs much separation to make plays anyway. This guy is an incredible contested-catch receiver who is going to have value at the next level.

The 2020 NFL Draft is absolutely loaded with wide receiver talent and Johnson has a chance to be among the better players at the position. He is dealing with a groin injury right now and is listed as questionable against LSU. Assuming he plays, Johnson’s battle with LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton (more on him soon) will be appointment television.

Brandon Jones, S, Texas

The Texas secondary is absolutely loaded with potential NFL draft talent all over the place. However, most of their impressive defensive backs are underclassmen who will be key pieces of future NFL draft classes. Senior safety Brandon Jones is the only exception.

Brandon Jones has been a four-year starter at Texas and has always been an impact player on the defensive side of the ball. He is a tough and physical defender who is excellent against the run. This guy will come downhill and hit you in the mouth and is also an extremely reliable tackler in space.

Jones has good speed and athleticism which leads to great range on the field. He shows solid natural instincts in coverage, but his lack of actual ball skills are a concern. If Jones can learn to make more plays on the ball in coverage, he will be a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Even with his suspect ball skills, the Texas safety is one of the best at his position in the NFL draft class.
