No. 6 LSU vs. No. 9 Texas: Top 2020 NFL Draft prospects to watch

Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU

Early in the process, the 2020 NFL Draft class has some nice talent at the cornerback position. There is a group of five or six cornerbacks at the top who are all currently in about the same range, but by the end of the season, one or two of these guys will separate themselves from the pack. This group includes LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton.

Fulton is a long and athletic cornerback prospect who is particularly impressive in press coverage. He is patient with his punch and when he fires out his hands, he usually gets the receiver off-balance. Overall, he is an extremely sticky man-to-man defender who has a great combination of speed and quickness as well.

Fulton breaks on the ball extremely well and has good natural ball skills. He is undoubtedly one of the premier cornerbacks in the 2020 NFL Draft class and has a chance to be an early first-round selection. This matchup against Texas wide receiver Collin Johnson could have a major impact on his draft stock, one way or another.

K’Lavon Chaisson, EDGE, LSU

K’Lavon Chaisson showed a lot of promise as an edge rusher for LSU as a true freshman in 2017. However, a torn ACL forced him to miss most of last season. We have not seen much of Chaisson on the field at LSU, but he has an obvious skill-set on the edge that makes him an incredibly intriguing 2020 NFL Draft prospect.

Chaisson is an incredibly quick and athletic prospect, who fires off of the ball quickly and closes on the quarterback in an instant. He shows tremendous upfield burst and fantastic flexibility on the edge. This guy bends around the edge with ease.

The LSU defender is also an impressive player in space, showing great fluidity when asked to drop back into coverage. His coverage instincts need some work, but he undoubtedly has the ability to make an impact in that area if he is asked to do so.

Chaisson is an incredibly talented edge rusher who has massive upside at the next level. If he impresses this season, the sky is limit when it comes to his 2020 NFL Draft stock.
