2020 NFL Draft: Sleeper contenders to be No. 1 overall pick
Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
Most years, a quarterback will go number one in the NFL draft. To put it simply, it is the most important position in all of sports. If an NFL team does not have a legitimate franchise quarterback, they really do not have a chance to compete for a Super Bowl championship.
Tagovailoa and Herbert will likely be the top quarterback prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft, but that is far from guaranteed. There will be other signal-callers who will put themselves in the conversation this season, with Utah State’s Jordan Love stands out as one of the most likely candidates.
Love has the physical skill-set to be an absolute star at the next level. He is a big and mobile quarterback who consistently escapes pressure and throws well on the run. Love also has a big arm that he uses well to make throws all over the field. He is not the most consistently accurate quarterback, but he shows plenty of promise in that area and does a tremendous job of knowing when to fire the ball with velocity and when to take some off with a touch pass.
Love does need to work on his decision making in order to really get in the number one overall discussion. He struggles to read opposing defenses at times and is too willing to roam around and play out of the structure of the offensive. His overall playmaking ability is great, but Love needs to learn to trust the process a little bit more.
If he can improve in those areas this season at Utah State, the sky is the limit for Love. He is a bit under-the-radar right now, but the skills are certainly there for him to become a true top-tier quarterback prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft.
