The Carolina Panthers have learned by now that Cam Newton is at his best when he’s properly protected up front. That means it’s smart to continuously invest at the offensive line positions. One they may have to address soon is center where longtime starter Ryan Kalil is expected to retire following the conclusion of the 2018 season. Elgton Jenkins doesn’t get a lot of hype but the kid has practiced against some of the best defensive linemen in college football, not to mention playing against the SEC. He’s battle-tested, athletic, and quick. He should a good edge when delivering his blocks. He’ll be ready and able to plug that hole when Kalil departs.
