2019 NFL Mock Draft 1.0: Defenders dominate throughout
Philadelphia’s defense has let them down early this year and their holes are becoming craters. Cornerback looked like a position of strength, but Jalen Mills has been the center of controversy over his play the last two weeks. Rodney McLeod’s knee injury has left the Eagles thin at safety, but that’s not something they’re desperate to address in the first round with both McLeod and Malcolm Jenkins locked in for several years.
Another issue is the SAM linebacker position, which is currently being filled by Nate Gerry and Kamu Grugier-Hill. The other two linebacker positions are relatively solid with Jordan Hicks and Nigel Bradham, but Hicks has constant injury concerns and Bradham had multiple off the field issues last year.
Both Mack Wilson and Devin White were options here, but I’m worried about White’s inability to fight off blockers. Wilson, on the other hand, has issues over pursuing and being erratic as a tackler. He needs to dial it down just a hair and recognize what is in front of him before going all-in with a terrific motor and aggressiveness.
