Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa

It was a storybook ending that many, even the Alabama faithful, couldn’t even fathom. After entering the National Championship game with his team down 13-0, sophomore quarterback Tua Tagovailoa did the unthinkable.

It’s amazing how tossing three touchdowns in the second half of the title game, including the game-winner in overtime, can thrust you into the Heisman race the next season.

Yet, the lefty quarterback is here, even with the likelihood of a possible two quarterback race with former starter Jalen Hurts. The lack of experience is the elephant in the room when discussing Tagovailoa and his situation down in Tuscaloosa. There is no doubt that he will not have a lack of talent at Alabama.

The amount of weapons around Tagovailoa this season will allow him to post notable numbers. Not to mention that he will have plenty of spotlight on him during the season with many of Alabama’s games under the national eye.

Was his title game performance a precursor of what to come? Or is Tagovailoa simply a flash in the pan?

Time will tell but it is with very little discussion that he can firmly plant himself in the Heisman race this season.
