Penn State QB Trace McSorley

Sometimes, even the most glamorous position in football gets overshadowed. Which has definitely been the case for the starting quarterback for the Nittany Lions the past two seasons. Senior quarterback Trace McSorley has had the luxury of playing alongside former Penn State running back and 2018 first round pick Saquan Barkley. Which means the solid play of McSorley was often overlooked.

However, the steady passer has thrown for 57 touchdowns the past two seasons in Happy Valley, which also makes him the leading touchdown passer in Penn State history. He is also second in the school’s history in career passing yards. Quietly, McSorley has placed himself amongst elite company.

The Nittany Lions will be without a handful of key offensive weapons this season which means McSorley will be counted upon to somewhat carry the offense, which he is capable of. What helps is there is plenty of talent on the Nittany Lions to make a possible College Football Playoff run. An aspect that can greatly enhance McSorley’s chance of a Heisman campaign.
