Kolton Miller, OT

The preseason debut of Kolton Miller has been highly anticipated for a variety of reasons.

Miller was considered by some to be a massive reach in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, but the Raiders could not be more excited about him.

So much so, in fact, they are moving Donald Penn over to the right side of the offensive line and hope Miller can seize the left tackle position sooner rather than later.

In the team’s preseason debut, it seems like Miller has done nothing to quell their excitement. He did pretty well in pass protection but did have a big holding penalty on Marshawn Lynch’s big run.

Even with that factored in, it was a nice debut for the Raiders’ first-round pick. One rep that really stood out to me was a pass pro rep from Miller where Derek Carr took a deep drop, looking for Martavis Bryant on a deep ball.

Miller helped create the perfect arc around Carr to give him not only time but a clean pocket to work from as he tried to find his big target down the field.

If Miller can handle speed consistently in the passing game, I think is abilities as a run blocker will come along.
