Earl Thomas asks for trade in Instagram comment, hints at LA?
The Legion of Boom is gone, and Earl Thomas apparently wants to join the pack
Trade rumors have swirled around Earl Thomas throughout the NFL offseason as the Seattle Seahawks look to recoup their dominance over the league.
Playing on the final year of his contract, which carries a $10.4 million cap hit, Thomas appears to be resolute with the Seahawks trading him. He’s already announced his plans to hold out from training camp.
The 29-year-old safety posted a picture from a recent workout on Instagram, and he left a clear message in the caption.
"“Always been the underdog ain’t nothing new . Extend …..if you don’t want me let’s make a trade happen I understand it’s a bizz 🙏🏾🏈💭 29 LAVIBES”"
The LAVIBES could be for him working out in Los Angeles, as most NFL players seem to do, or could it hint that he wants to play for the Chargers or Rams?

The Rams have made massive moves already this offseason with Brandin Cooks, Ndamukong Suh, Marcus Peters, and Aqib Talib coming on through trades and free agency. They’ve also dealt with Lamarcus Joyner receiving the franchise tag and not signing.
The Chargers have Adrian Phillips as their starting free safety with rookie Derwin James expected to play strong safety. We outlined a potential Chargers trade earlier this offseason.
Dallas has been connected the most with Thomas in trade talks, but never got a deal done leading up to the NFL Draft. Seattle would want a major piece back for Thomas, likely a first round pick, if not multiple.
The Instagram post comes shortly after four NFL players and their teams, including Joyner and the Rams, failed to reach extensions after receiving the franchise tag early in the offseason. Thomas could be a franchise tag candidate next offseason, a process that seems to wear on with little results.
