Philadelphia Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman made multiple big-time moves over the offseason, including dishing out one of the most lucrative contracts in NFL history

Athletes have a history of being paid and never living up to the expectations. Albert Haynesworth was given $100,000 over seven years by the Washington Redskins in what is regarded as the worst contract in NFL history.

But for Fletcher Cox, the work has only just begun. Now back playing inside a 4-3 defense under the tutelage of Jim Schwartz, Cox is on-pace to have his best season ever.

On Thursday, Cox was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month. He recorded three sacks,14 total tackles, six quarterback hurries, and a forced fumble.

Pro Football Focus currently has Cox ranked the second-best interior pass-rusher in the NFL through the first three games. Overall, they list him as the seventh best interior defender.

The Eagles traded up in the 2012 NFL Draft to take Cox out of Mississippi State with the 12th overall pick. He has 25 career sacks and 171 tackles in his five year career.

Every season Cox has got better, which is scary considering the kind of stuff he does just five years in the league. He’ll be living up to that contract (and probably the next one) for years to come.
