Here’s one of the few first-round offensive line selections who won’t be relied upon to start in Week One, barring any unforeseen injury to one of the top tackles in Arizona (Bobby Massie, Jared Veldheer).

Humphries was a tricky prospect out of Florida, with projections all across the board. Now that he’s in a favorable situation in Arizona where he can craft his game, long-term success is more likely.

This storyline has to be looked at due to Humphries’ likely insertion into the lineup at some point this season. Both tackles staying on the field for all 16 games seems unlikely, making NFL teams’ third offensive tackle a critical presence on the roster.

Through the preseason, watch for growth and ability to latch onto edge rushers. Humphries has the talent, it’s the readiness that could decide his season.
