New York Jets:  Geno Smith not making the same mistakes

Trading for Ryan Fitzpatrick and drafting Bryce Petty was a clear enough message from the New York Jets to Geno Smith:  play better or else.  This is the third year for him, and most experts agree it’s the year that most draft picks either turn the corner in their pro careers or don’t.  Smith has had his opportunities, and this is the last.

So far he’s acting like he knows that, turning heads at camp with his surprisingly efficient play against what is billed as one of the better defenses in the league.  Granted, there is a long way to go but the lack of talk about Fitzpatrick or Petty is at least encouraging that perhaps this talented Jets roster can go into 2015 with some sort of stability under center.
