Adrian Peterson to the Cardinals Could Change NFC West
By Joe Wedra
It’s the season for NFL rumors — the latest one comes regarding RB Adrian Peterson and a potential visit out West to join the Arizona Cardinals.
Here’s the tweet that sparked the Cardinals Twitter world to all turn heads at once:
After some speculation that Peterson might be interested in joining the Vikings, we finally have a report that might be linking the two.
Obviously, Schultz isn’t the Adam Schefter of the NFL news-breaking world, but he should be given credit and time should given to discuss the possibility.
The Fit
It might just be Peterson’s potential fit in Arizona that makes this rumor so interesting.
While running back certainly isn’t a need that stands out, the Cardinals would be wise to at-least look into grabbing the NFL’s former rushing leader. He doesn’t have off-field issues, he’s proven to be nothing but dominant on the field, and doesn’t come with much concern other than a few hits to his image.
Imagine what kind of running game Arizona could muster up if they paired Peterson with Andre Ellington, the young gun that is going to get better with time. Could pairing up with Peterson be his best bet towards a bright future?
Watch Out, NFC West
Question marks still surround Arizona, however putting together a rushing attack of this magnitude would be eye-popping. It’s tough to compete in the West; a strong running game is the best road to success.
You don’t have to look good winning, you just have to do it. That’s what the NFC West is all about (flashbacks to what the AFC North used to be).
Pairing Peterson and Ellington while keeping other young weapons around a bit deeper on the depth chart, Arizona could thrive in a future “run it and roll” offensive gameplan.
