New York Giants

Current HC:  Tom Coughlin

At 68 years old and out of the playoffs for the third-straight season, time may be running out on Tom Coughlin.  He’s had a superb run with the New York Giants and has a legacy secure in the annals of that team and city’s history.  However, the team isn’t responding like it used to.  How much of it is his fault is unknown, but the time for a change is as good as any.

Next Man Up?

GM Jerry Reese may also be on the chopping block given the slip of talent the Giants have suffered lately.  So that make the Coughlin replacement search cloudy.  History suggests they will seek out somebody with organization ties.  Todd Bowles, defensive coordinator for Arizona, was a secondary coach with the New York Jets and held assistant positions with both Dallas and Philadelphia.

Chicago Bears

Current HC:  Marc Trestman

This is perhaps the most hotly debated of any possible head coach on the hot seat.  Will the Chicago Bears, who are notorious for avoiding change, remove Marc Trestman after one of the most disappointing and dysfunctional seasons in franchise history?  Nobody knows but many believe the team is hard pressed to justify keeping him after a steep regression from last season.

Next Man Up?

Much like the Giants, the GM situation is in just as much hot water as the head coach.  If the Bears part ways with Phil Emery that will alter the landscape.  One thing that is clear is the organization will seek to get back to what makes them great:  defense, toughness and discipline.  Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn could be a perfect solution.
