Updated 2011 NFL Mock Draft: 1/31/11
By Editorial Staff
Mark Ingram- RB- Alabama
Still no change with this pick as I have had Ingram in this spot for months. I love Ingram’s ability to run between the tackles and gain yards after contact. His running style will fit nicely in Miami as they look to rebound from a disappointing 2010 season..
Ryan Kerrigan- DE- Purdue
It seems that every year the Jaguars are looking to upgrade their pass rush and this year is no different. Kerrigan is one of the top pass rushers in this draft and his high motor will make him a favorite of the coaching staff. Jacksonville could go in a lot of different directions here including quarterback or safety.
Cameron Heyward- DE/DT- Ohio State
Heyward’s Sugar Bowl performance showed the type of potential he possesses. He would be a great fit as a 5 technique in the Patriots 3-4 defensive scheme. I wouldn’t be surprised if New England packaged this pick to move up in the draft but that is just pure speculation on my part.
Rahim Moore- S- UCLA
Star safety Eric Weddle is a free agent and San Diego has a history of not giving their free agents big pay days. Moore is a local kid and would be a nice replacement in the back end of the Chargers defense.
Gabe Carimi-OT- Wisconsin
Carimi’s play last week at the Senior Bowl showed that he is capable of handling left tackle duties in the NFL. His strong run blocking abilities would make him a great fit in New York.
Brandon Harris- CB- Miami
The cornerback position is a very hot topic in Tampa. There are still questions about Ronde Barber’s return and concerns on whether or not Talib can keep clean off the field. In my mind both players can not be counted on which means adding some depth would be a good decision for the Bucs.
Phil Taylor- NT- Baylor
I have to admit this is a little high for Taylor but he showed at the Senior Bowl that he has the potential to be an unblockable force. The nose tackle position is a big need for the Chiefs and they have shown in the past they will reach for a player at a need position.
Nate Solder- OT- Colorado
Solder is an interesting prospect that has a lot of scouts with varying opinions. I am one of them that doubts his ability and feel he is a real project with upside. However, he brings value for the Colts as they will most likely be looking to address their offensive line.
Aaron Williams- CB- Texas
There is little doubt in my mind that the Eagles will address their cornerback issues early in this draft. Williams possesses nice size and speed with the ability to contribute early in his career.
Adrian Clayborn- DE- Iowa
The Saints are going to be looking for a replacement for defensive end Alex Brown. Clayborn is a solid all around defensive end that will hold strong against the run and provide a bit of a pass rush. I don’t see him ever developing into a double digit sack guy but he will provide good all around play for years to come.
