Louis Murphy spent a Night at the Museum, but didn’t have as much fun as Ben Stiller

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Louis Murphy found himself locked inside the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach after serving as a groomsman to a former college teammate, and Chicago Bears receiver, Deonte Thompson.

According to a report from the Palm Beach Daily News, Murphy was drinking following the ceremony and wandered off into a courtyard.

He subsequently fell asleep with no one noticing his disappearance as the wedding party left for the reception. When Murphy woke up, he was intoxicated and locked inside the museum.

After punching a window in an attempt to get out, the 29-year-old receiver called 911. The recording, which is profanity-free, was acquired by TMZ.

Police were on the scene at 1:12 a.m., and museum security found Murphy towards the end of his call.

The museum’s facility manager estimated the damaged caused by Murphy to be around $1,000.

Murphy released a statement to the Palm Beach Daily News, and is planning on covering the cost of the repairs:

"“This was really just a series of small unfortunate circumstances. With no one around, my only option was to break a small glass pane of the door in order to access a phone and call for help. I dialed the police and explained that I needed assistance. It’s unfortunate that I needed to break the glass, but the police officers on the scene and museum staff acknowledged that I didn’t have many other options. I’m working with the museum to ensure everything is properly handled.”"

Originally drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 2009 with the 124th pick, Louis Murphy has been a journey-man in the NFL. After spending three years in Oakland, Murphy was traded to Carolina, where he played for only one season, for a 7th round pick.

He spent 2013 with the New York Giants, but had a limited production factor. Tampa Bay brought him back to his home state in 2014, where he has remained ever since.

Through his seven seasons in the NFL, Murphy has made only 28 starts and has 12 total touchdowns. The veteran tore his ACL against the Redskins on October 25, and is expected to be ready for training camp.

He, along with the groom Thompson, played on two Florida Gators national championship teams.
