Atlanta Falcons and the 10th pick in the NFL Draft: A dynasty in the making

The Quarterback Quandary
One of the team's most pressing needs is at the quarterback position. Whether or not Arthur Smith returns as head coach next season, it's clear that the Falcons need a new leader behind center. In recent years, the team has struggled to find a long-term solution at quarterback, and this offseason presents an opportunity to change that.
One name that has emerged as a potential target is LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels had a remarkable season, culminating in winning the Heisman Trophy. He showcased his versatility and playmaking ability, throwing for over 3,800 yards and 40 touchdowns. He also displayed his prowess as a runner, with over 1,100 rushing yards and ten touchdowns on the ground.
The downside to Jayden Daniels is the Heisman hype, and inflated stats have him slightly overvalued. In early November, Daniels was still projected as third-rounder at the 2024 NFL Draft. He went No. 74 overall to the Packers in the NFC North mock draft.
Daniels’ 50 touchdowns are impressive, as is his completion percentage on 20+ yard passes, but most came against second-rate opponents. He may be JaMarcus Russell 2.0 in the sense of being overhyped heading into the NFL. In a potentially stacked quarterback class, waiting until Day 2 might be a better play.
