The Tennessee Titans are still seeking their first win in the 2024 NFL season.  With an upcoming Monday Night matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, first year head coach Brian Callahan will have the challenge of getting a balanced team effort to secure the team’s first team win of the season and his first win as a head coach in the NFL.

While the defense has been fine, the big question surrounding the Titans is the offense and whether Will Levis is the quarterback of the future.  How he performs the rest of the season will determine who the Titans target in the 2025 NFL Draft.  Will the Titans be a team in the mix for one of the top QB prospects entering the draft?

The hope is that Levis rekindles his magic and the Titans salvage something out of the 2024 NFL season.  If Levis can turn around his early season struggles look like the starter for the unseeable future, the Titans will be able to focus on other areas of need.  Some of those needs will be on the defensive side where the team could use another edge rusher to pair with Harold Landry, an off-ball linebacker and help at safety.

Offensively, quarterback could be the primary focus if Levis can’t find his way as the season moves forward.  With wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins on the last year of his contract, the Titans could also be in the mix for one of the top wide receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft class.

Current state of the Tennessee Titans

  • 2024 NFL season record: 0-3, 3rd in the AFC South
  • Team offense: Rank 29th (260.3 yards per game)
  • Team defense: Rank 5th (263.7 yards per game)
  • 2025 NFL Draft position: No. 2
  • Top positional needs: EDGE, WR, QB

2025 NFL Draft outlook

The Titans are in an interesting position given their 0-3 start.  Again, if Levis is not the man, quarterback will be a top area of need.  Although not as heralded as the 2024 NFL Draft QB class, there are some interesting prospects who could look good in Tennessee.  The top QB’s entering the draft are Georgia’s Carson Beck, Texas’ Quinn Ewers, Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.  If they are selecting in the top 5, Titans general manager Ron Carthon along with Callahan will have a decision to make even if Levis shows glimpses he can be the man.

As far as other positional needs, the Titans could be able to take one of the top EDGE rushers in the draft.  Top names include Tennessee’s James Pearce Jr., Texas A&M’s Nic Scourton and Penn State’s Abdul Carter.  With no third-round pick, the Titans could decide to trade back for more draft capitol and still be in position to nab a top edge rusher which addressing other needs like offensive line, linebacker and wide receiver on Day 2 and Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft.  Here is an early-season look at what the Titans will do in this three-round NFL Mock Draft.

EDGE | Tennessee. 2. 35. . . James Pearce Jr.. . . . James Pearce Jr.

There’s enough offensive talent for the Titans to turn it around this season, so with the No. 2 pick overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Titans will keep the nation’s top pass rusher in the state of Tennessee with the selection of James Pearce Jr.

Entering the 2024 season as the top cat when it comes to EDGE rushers, Pearce’s athleticism and pure dominance coming off the edge would make for quite the duo in Tennessee with Landry on the other side.  An unblockable force against opposing offensive lines, the combination of power and speed bottled up in his 6-foot-5, 243-pound flame makes him one of the more intriguing edge rush prospects to enter the league since Aidan Hutchinson, who was selected No. 2 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.

35. Evan Stewart. . . Evan Stewart. . . WR | Oregon. 33.

If the Titans don’t extend Hopkins, look for the team to target a wide receiver at some point in the draft.  With Calvin Ridley under contract, there’s not a great need at wide receiver, at least this early in the draft, but Oregon’s Evan Stewart will be too good to pass up with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Assuming Levis regains his magic, surrounding him with more weapons could be a focus entering the draft.  Stewart is an outside X-receiver who has the talent and blazing speed to take the place of Hopkins if he walks in free agency.  As an above average route runner, Stewart has the versatility to be a deep threat, work from the slot or be more of a possession type receiver, much like Hopkins.  What’s most impressive about Stewart is his ability to break tackles and gain yards after the catch.  In all, a solid pick for the Titans if wide receiver ends up being a top need.
