2025 NFL Draft: 3 early NFL fits for Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck

Carson Beck will compete with Sheduer Sanders and Quinn Ewers as the top quarterback prospect entering the 2025 NFL Draft.  Hungry for a National Championship, the Georgia Bulldogs star has a lot on the line in 2024, including a shot at the Heisman Trophy.

At 6-foot-4, 218 pounds, Beck is a prostyle quarterback who has above average pocket mechanics and field vision.  He also has high IQ as a passer and the instincts to get the ball in the right places especially when he is operating rhythm-based offense.

Beck showcased that in 2023 throwing the ball to the likes of current NFL rookies Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey.  He threw for 3,941 yards with 24 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.  After losing the SEC championship to the Alabama Crimson Tide, Beck help led the Bulldogs to a 63-3 win over the Florida State Seminoles in the Capital One Orange Bowl.  In that game, Beck went 13-18 for 203 yards and two touchdowns.  In completing 72.2 percent of his passes, the current top ranked QB entering the 2025 NFL Draft displayed his accuracy and efficiency while operating affectively out of the pocket.

In an early scouting report on Ewers, NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah sees a lot of Eli Manning in Beck because of the way he takes advantage of his size in the pocket.  He doesn’t have the pazazz Sanders has, but his accuracy as a passer along with the touch he has with his passes makes him a quality top QB entering the 2025 NFL Draft.

Jeremiah writes:

“Beck has prototypical size and arm strength. He has a quick/compact release and he operates with a very firm/strong base. He can power the ball into tight windows. I saw him consistently utilize anticipation, velocity and ball placement to fit the ball between a triangle of defenders. He flashes the athleticism to pick up free yards when they are presented, but he prefers to read through his progression and work from the pocket.”

The one area where Jeremiah feels Beck must improve is his accuracy when facing pressure.  When he must reset his feet, he can be a bit erratic with his throws.  With the right coaching on the NFL level, that can be corrected given the talent he does have as a passer.

There is no doubt Beck will be one of the top quarterbacks entering the 2025 NFL Draft.  Teams who missed out on the top QB prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft will be watching Beck’s performance throughout the 2024 college football season.  Where he fits will depend on how current quarterbacks perform for these NFL squads who may be looking to make a change at QB in 2025.

New York Giants:

The Giants will be in the running for every top QB in the 2025 NFL Draft unless Daniel Jones finds consistency and performs at a level that has the organization content with him as their franchise QB.

If Jones’ performance is underwhelming, Beck will be high on the team’s list, especially with the comparison to Manning.  With the amount of interest, the Giants had in Drake Maye prior to the 2024 NFL Draft, a prototypical size QB like Beck could be their consolation prize as he has similar size and arm talent.  With a stud receiver like Malik Nabers in place, Beck to the Giants could be an ideal landing spot for the Georgia star.

Las Vegas Raiders:

Another team that will be tied to top QB prospects like Beck is the Raiders.  After missing out on drafting one of the top signal callers in the 2024 NFL Draft, Las Vegas will depend on either veteran QB Gardner Minchew or second-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell in 2024.  Whoever wins the starting role could be seen as a placeholder, even if the Raiders have a solid season.

Now, O’Connell should change the team’s plans if he morphs into the QB the Raiders are looking for.  Even if he does and the Raiders are in position to draft one of the top signal callers, they still need to pull the trigger.  If it is Beck, it would reunite him with college teammate and top target Brock Bowers, who the Raiders selected with the No. 13 overall pick in draft. 

Carolina Panthers:

The Panthers are a team to keep an eye on in the 2024 NFL season because if Bryce Young doesn’t show signs, he’s the guy, Carolina will be a team highly interested in a player like Carson Beck.

New head coach Dave Canales will look to put Young in position to succeed, but if the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft can’t find his footing in his second NFL season, the Panthers will have to quickly turn the page.  With some of the young players they have in place offensively, Beck could end up being the piece that gets this NFC South squad back on pace and back competitive.
