NFL Week 6 premier matchups: Mack vs Dak, Jaguars reunite with old friend
By Beau Adams
The excitement and anticipation are palpable as the football season enters its sixth week. With several key matchups on the horizon, NFL Week 6 promises to deliver a thrilling spectacle of skill, strategy, and suspense. It's time for our weekly look ahead at NFLMocks.
Good teams win, and great teams cover; last week, we were 3 for 3. The 49ers and the Chiefs showed their brilliance, plus there was an epic upset in London. Let's see what is in store for NFLMocks' three premier Week 6 matchups.
Game 1: Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Indianapolis Colts, after an impressive victory against the Tennessee Titans, are now on a quest to maintain their winning momentum. Their upcoming face-off against the Jacksonville Jaguars could be a turning point in the season.
The Colts have been up and down this season and are a .600 team that plays like a .400 team. Anthony Richardson is fantastic when he isn't getting himself injured.
Zack Moss has been a pleasant surprise and very effective in Johnathan Taylor's absence. He got even better when Taylor returned in Week 5. So good the Colts could be regretting extending Taylor, thinking they should just sent him to the Bucs.
On the other side of the field, the Jaguars, fresh off their exhilarating win against the Buffalo Bills, are eager to continue their own upward trajectory. They've shown that they can handle business against top-tier teams and will be looking to prove it again against the Colts.
The Jaguars' defense, led by Josh Allen, has been a force to be reckoned with in 2023. They've successfully kept some of the league's most potent offenses at bay, and they'll be looking to do the same against the Colts' high-flying unit. The imminent showdown between the Jaguars' defense and the Colts' offense will surely be a sight.
Storyline: The Return of the Hero
With Anthony Richardson out with a shoulder sprain, the Colts will turn to the legendary backup QB Gardner Minshew. Minshew and his magical journey started here in Jacksonville when then Jaguar QB Nick Foles went down with a shoulder injury. Minshew instantly became a hero in Duval.
He will now ride back into Duval on his Colts, looking to upset the Jaguars and claim the AFC South lead. The Jaguars are hot, though. Josh Allen knows Minshew and will hunt him like the traitor he has become. This game will be fun; pick a side and hold on for some phenomenal football.
Bold Prediction for Week 6 — Game 1: Jaguars Triumph Over Colts; Minshew Magic isn't enough for the arm of Prince Trevor the Jaguarheart. Jags cover the 4 points at home.
