More NFC North Hype: Bears have a ‘secret superstar’ in linebacker T.J. Edwards

The Chicago Bears have some serious talent on the defensive side of the football.  It starts with players like Montez Sweat and Tremaine Edmunds, but an emerging star on that defense is linebacker T.J. Edwards who was chosen by Pro Football Focus as the team’s “secret superstar.”

Probably not a secret anymore, the fifth-year linebacker tallied 155 tackles with 2.5 sacks and three interceptions in showcasing his versatility as a linebacker.  Talk about striking gold in free agency, the Bears not only got themselves a solidified starter, but a player who will have Chicago’s defense buzzing in 2024.

He also has his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, regretting not offering him a deal prior to him signing with the Bears, which is obviously to Chicago’s benefit.  But a player who has been consistent as far as production and impact, Edwards has proved he can impact a defense like he did in 2023.

Now, if the Bears can get it together offensively.  Whether or not they keep quarterback Justin Fields, the Bears are set up nicely in the 2024 NFL Draft with two top 10 selections.  They can either draft Caleb Williams and another playmaker on offense or trade the pick for more draft capital.
