New York Giants 2025 NFL Mock Draft: Top QB, top 5 corner revitalize the Big Blue
The New York Giants are on the brink of collapse. Following a Week 2 loss to the Washington Commanders, Brian Daboll’s squad is looking like a team in need of a revitalization on both sides of the ball. While it starts with quarterback Daniel Jones, an organizational restructure could be in the mix as the Giants will use the 2025 NFL Draft to get back to their winning ways in the NFC East.
In starting the season at 0-2, Daboll looks to be a coach on the hot seat, but should the blame be on general manager Joe Schoen who is responsible for the players on the field, including Jones who has not gotten the Giants’ offense off to a good start, throwing for 364 yards in the first two games combined.
While Jones did throw for two touchdowns in the team’s 21-18 loss to the Commanders, his contract is looking worse by the week which has Schoen looking like a GM who got played. The silver lining is that the Giants did get a top-notch performance out of their top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft as Malik Nabers balled out with 10 receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown. There is still time for Daboll and the Giants to turn things around, but unless they pull an upset over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3, the team will be playing for Daboll’s job and draft positioning.
Current state of the New York Giants
- 2024 NFL season record: 0-2, 4th in the NFC East
- Team offense: Rank 24th (272.0 yards per game)
- Team defense: Rank 24th (368.5 yards per game)
- 2025 NFL Draft position: No. 5
- Top positional needs: QB, CB, DT, RB
2025 NFL Draft outlook
While the quarterback class is not as deep as far as franchise QB talent like the 2024 NFL Draft class, there will still be some intriguing names for the Giants to look starting at the top with prospects such as Georgia’s Carson Beck, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, and Miami’s Cam Ward has been playing lights out to start the 2024 college football season. If New York decides to go another route in the first round, prospects like Texas QB Quinn Ewers, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Mississippi’s Jaxson Dart as possible Day 2 selections.
As far as other needs, the 2025 NFL Draft class will feature a deep cornerback class as well as defensive line. The Giants may also be able to find their Saquon Barkley replacement as the running back class looks to be impressive as well. Here’s a look at who the Giants will select in this three-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft early season edition.
The Giants loved Drake Maye in the 2024 NFL Draft and will pounce on Georgia’s Carson Beck if they are in position to select him. Like Maye, Beck has the prototypical size and arm talent, but also has the pocket accuracy and quick release that will make him at least the top 3 quarterbacks taken in the draft, if not No. 1. With 520 passing yard and seven touchdowns through his two week of football action in 2024, Beck is living up to expectations and would look dynamite in a Giants uniform throwing the ball to Nabers.
In a deep cornerback class, Arizona’s Tacario Davis is currently ranked at the No. 6 corner in a class led by Michigan’s Will Johnson, Colorado’s Travis Hunter, Notre Dame’s Benjamin Morrison, and Ohio State’s Denzel Burke. At 6-foot-4, 195 pounds, Davis has great size and plays with the instincts and competitiveness to be one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. There may be temptation for the Giants to take one of the top cornerbacks with their first-round selection, but knowing the depth at the position, the Giants will know they can still get a first-round talent early on Day 2 by selecting a cornerback the size of Davis
The Giants will address their defensive tackle needs via free agency and later in the later rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. With their third-round pick, the Giants won’t be able to resist selecting a running back to add more flare to their offense. In Omarion Hampton, the Giants get a back with the combination of speed and power that will remind longtime fans of Rodney Hampton. At 6-foot-0, 220 pounds, Hampton is similar in size, but will need to work on versatility in the NFL. With the ability to catch the ball, this North Carolina prospect will be a workhouse type back for the Giants giving them a young offensive trio that includes Beck at QB and Nabers at wide receiver.
