When all is said and done, Kirk Cousins could end up in a familiar place.

With Sam Howell struggling as and the Commanders on a three-game losing streak, could Washington entertain bringing Cousins back as their quarterback?

Would Cousins entertain a return to the team that set off his career?

While the Commanders are a team who could just decide to let the season play out and take a shot at one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft, they do have some young talent on both sides of the ball and add a veteran quarterback like Cousins could keep young playmakers like Jahan Dotson and Terry McLaurin happy and involved in what the Commanders are trying to do.

Like the Patriots, the value of Cousins is that he would be a bridge to the next potential franchise quarterback as it doesn’t seem Howell is it, at least right now.

How ironic would it be if the Commanders ended their quest for a Kirk Cousins replacement with…well Kirk Cousins.

This is a best fit because of Cousins’ familiarity with the Commanders, but not the destination that would create waves throughout the NFL that a trade to the Patriots or Jets would.
