As the October 31 NFL trade deadline approaches, that is going to be the burning question around the NFL, especially with Cousins playing out the final year of his contract.  With that said, any team pursuing the 35-year-old veteran quarterback would have to be willing to either take on Cousins as a rental or know they could extend the pending free agent.

That could determine the type of trade package the Vikings receive.  This all could change if the Vikings win the next game or two, but its tending in a direction that should see Minnesota moving on from Cousins and setting the stage for a rebuild in 2024.  With a top prospect like USC QB Caleb Williams at the top of the 2024 NFL Draft, the intrigue should be there for the Vikings to punt on the rest of the season.
