Las Vegas Raiders continue to be in the mix for Justin Fields

The Raiders are going to be a team to watch this offseason because they will be aggressive either through trade, NFL free agency or the 2024 NFL Draft to obtain a quarterback.  In moving on from Jimmy Garoppolo and looking to upgrade from Aidan O’Connell, the Raiders should be a team hot and heavy for Justin Fields if the Bears shop him around.

As a team rumored to be in on Fields since speculation started, the Raiders would have to see the Ohio State product as a better option than whoever they could draft with their current selection or a veteran quarterback they can lore in free agency or trade like a Russell Wilson.

But, if they went the route of Wilson, why not go with a younger quarterback with upside?  Again, Fields made strides towards the end of the season in 2023 and would be an upgrade over O’Connell given his dual-threat ability. 

If it costs a second-round pick, the Raiders could turn their attention to a playmaker with the No. 13 overall pick rather than using the pick on a quarterback prospect like Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy or Oregon’s Bo Nix, two quarterbacks that could go in that mid-to-late round of the NFL Draft.

Whatever the Raiders do, it will be a decision that could make or break first-year head coach Antonio Pierce as he officially begins his NFL coaching career.
