Jets Mock Draft buzz: Taliese Fuaga vs Brock Bowers at No. 10 in 2024 NFL Draft
The New York Jets offense had several issues in the 2023 NFL season. One of those areas of concern will be fixed with the return of Aaron Rodgers. But, what about the playmakers around Rodgers and what about the offensive line?
In the NFL.com mock draft, Eric Edholm has the Jets going big at tackle by selecting Taliese Fuaga with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Edholm writes:
“The Jets need to add skill-position talent, but the offensive line absolutely must improve in 2024. And this just feels like a prospect general manager Joe Douglas could fall for. Although Fuaga played right tackle almost exclusively for the Beavers, he could be tried at guard if needed.”
Not a bad selection at all for a Jets team that will look to strengthen that line to protect Rodgers. The Oregon State product is massive and the type of player that could make an impact immediately. The only issue is that he has played mostly right tackle in college, so there will be some room for growth.
Should the New York Jets select fascinating offensive playmaker over a tackle?
NFL Mocks went a different route in our latest mock draft with the Jets selecting Georgia tight end Brock Bowers with the No. 10 overall pick. This selection would give the Jets another playmaker in the offense. While tight end is not a major need, NFL Mocks contributor John Blair believes Bowers is too good to pass up:
“While tight end might not be a pressing need for the New York Jets, Brock Bowers is just to good to pass up at this point in the draft. He is an impressive receiver who has caught at least 56 passes each of the past three seasons. He is also an aggressive blocker and should help out the Jets run game as well.”
The Jets will be looking to add another offensive playmaker to go along with Garrett Wilson. It could be via trade as there were rumors that the team would pursue DeVante Adams if he was made available.
There are also some intriguing free agency options like Mike Evans and Tee Higgins. If they go the route of the draft, players like Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze could be there at No. 10 depending how the draft goes, but if both players are off the board, why not go with a tight end who could flourish catching the ball from a veteran quarterback like Rodgers.
Of course, if the offensive line is still in shambles, none of that will matter which pulls the argument back towards the massive Oregon offensive tackle.
Whether its Fuaga or Bowers, the Jets add a major piece on offense in the 2024 NFL Draft.
