Caleb Williams enters 2024 NFL Draft: 5 fascinating landing spots for USC star QB, 2022 Heisman winner
New England Patriots: Caleb Williams could write a new chapter in Foxboro
If Bill Belichick was still the coach of the New England Patriots, the team’s changes of trading back in the draft for rather than up two spots to snag Caleb Williams would be unthinkable. But, if the team feels Williams is the man, they could pull the trigger if Williams doesn’t somehow fall to them at No. 3.
With the two teams ahead of them (Chicago Bears and Washington Commander) possibly addressing other needs and sticking with the quarterbacks they currently have, the Patriots could find themselves having to chose between any combination of Williams, North Carolina’s Drake Maye and LSU’s Jayden Daniels Any of the three would excite fans, but imagine the spotlight placed on Williams to upstart a Patriots’ offense that needs a major overhaul.
The USC star’s ability to improvise in the pocket and dazzle in the pocket would be something Patriots fans haven’t seen, but relish. Williams would not only change the team’s offensive approach and philosophy, but he would also bring star power back to the position…at least the prospects of star power.
Though Williams is not as big as Daniels and Maye as far as height, he stands tall in the pocket and has a snack for the spectacular either with his arm, legs or both, something Patriots fans are starving for after a couple of seasons of inept offense.
