Jaxson Dart will face the biggest test of his young NFL career in a Week 7 matchup between the New York Giants (2-4) and the Denver Broncos (4-2).  Can the rookie quarterback lead his team into Empower Field at Mile High and come away with an upset win?

It will be a tall task going up against a Broncos defense that can get after the quarterback and have been stingy when it comes to giving up points.  Like Broncos second-year quarterback Bo Nix, Dart has injected some energy into the offense.  He has stayed within the team’s gameplan and have tortured teams with his mobility and athleticism once he escaped the pocket.

After a confidence boosting win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6, the question and the storyline heading into Week 7 for Giants fans will be how poised and confident can the rookie quarterback be against a physical defense like the Broncos?

What the Broncos are saying about Jaxson Dart

With all the hype surrounding the Giants rookie quarterback, the Broncos defense is aware of the spark he gives the team.  With a talented arm along with the ability to make plays with his legs, Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper knows his team is well equipped to handle a mobile quarterback like Dart, after all they face one in practice as Nix has similar capability.

This week, Cooper says his team won’t be caught off guard by Dart’s escape ability in the pocket.

"He's a young guy. He's feelin' himself a little bit," Cooper said. "He's out there running around. He's got the chain on. He's dancing. I feel like everybody needs something, you know. But we've went against QBs who have ran around in the pocket and have tried to do stuff with their legs, so it ain't nothing we haven't seen."

Jaxson Dart vs Broncos’ defense

In the Week 6 win over the Eagles, Dart threw for 195 yards with 1 touchdown and a 104.6 quarterback rating.  He also had 13 carries for 58 yards and a touchdown in the game, which makes him a dual threat focus for the Broncos defense.  As Cooper stated, Denver’s defense will be well prepared for what Dart does, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be caught off guard by what Dart can do outside the pocket.

In this game, the Giants offense will need to find a weakness in the Broncos’ defense and attack.  That weakness is defending pass-catching running backs, which the Giants have in rookie running back Cam Skattebo. In a defensive slugfest, it could come down to the rookie duo who are rocking sky high after their performances against the Eagles.

In a bold prediction, that confidence will be pegged down a little, but Dart will still have a rushing touchdown against the Broncos in a 13-10 loss.  The rookie will throw for over 125 yards, but the Giants’ offense won’t be able to overcome three turnovers in the loss.
