Dante Moore is a redshirt Junior for Oregon. He’s listed at 6’3, 206 pounds, but he’s probably around 215 at this point of his career.

Moore was born in East Cleveland, Ohio, but moved to Detroit, Michigan, later in life, and attended Martin Luther King High School. 247 Sports had him as a 5-star recruit in 2023. He was the fourth overall player in the nation, the third overall quarterback, and first-overall player in Michigan.

He attended UCLA as a freshman, where he started in five games before transferring to Oregon and redshirting.

Moore did not begin the 2025 season high up in the draft conversation, but by December, he was widely viewed as a top-five and potential number-one overall pick. But after the college football season, he decided to return to Oregon.

Moore has all of the athletic tools necessary to play quarterback in the NFL. He has a strong arm, good feet in the pocket, and the ability to get out of the pocket and do damage with his legs. But his IQ and feel are what help him stand out from the crowd. He's always operating within the offense, moves to throw, and makes throws on time and with anticipation.

In this post, we'll talk about the things that make Dante Moore a strong prospect in the NFL 2027 NFL Draft, and some things to improve on throughout the season.

What are Dante Moore's biggest strengths?

  • At this point in the process, Dante Moore is the most accurate quarterback in this class. He throws a very catchable ball to the exact spot a receiver needs it.
  • To go along with that accuracy, Moore plays on time. The way he goes through his progressions appears to be the exact way it's drawn up, and he rarely gets sped up, or holds the ball too long in the pocket.
  • He also has a great feel for his route concepts and the defenses he is seeing, throwing into windows as they open, and away from defenders in man coverage.
  • Moore has all the arm strength he needs at the NFL level. He can hit the deep shots, and has plenty of zip on short and intermediate throws.
  • And finally, Moore is a good athlete. He navigates the pocket well and can quickly evade pass rushers. And even though he doesn't run for much yardage, he is athletic and fast enough to scramble or keep the ball on designed runs when asked.

Where can Dante Moore improve?

  • Whether it is by design or his own preference, Moore is not an overly creative player.
  • There aren't a lot of aggressive throws or scramble drill plays on his tape.
  • Does not utilize the middle of the field as often as some of the other prospects.
  • With his athleticism, we should see more rushing yards from Moore than we do.

NFL Draft projection

Dante Moore is an excellent draft prospect for 2027, and as of now is neck and neck with Arch Manning to be the first overall pick.

But if Moore is the same quarterback in 2026 that he was in 2025, I wouldn't be totally surprised if he slipped out of the top five into the top eight or ten because of his play style. Teams know the typical "franchise quarterback" type is one who plays with a bit more creativity.

But Moore's strengths, more importantly than his areas to improve, make him a great fit for any team. He has the feel and timing to play in an under-center, play-action-type offense. But also the arm talent and athleticism for something with a bit more space.

Pro comparison

My comp for Dante Moore at this point is CJ Stroud. Stroud was measured at 6'3, 214 pounds coming out of Ohio State, very similar to what I think Moore will be when it's all said and done. Both players prefer to operate from the pocket, and are very accurate passers.

But also like Stroud, I think Moore can play with more creativity when required. I still remember Stroud's final college game against Georgia, when he was running around making all sorts of plays and throws from all over the field. And at various points of his pro career Stroud has shown that ability is still in there.

I bet Moore has that in him as well. He's too good a thrower and too athletic not to be able to put those things together.

And if things around him are set up well, Moore could have a lot of success early in the NFL, like Stroud. But if things were to get messy around him, I'm not sure there's enough of that playmaking mentality or "S-tier" athleticism to overcome it.

Final evaluation

Overall Grade: 91/100

Draft Projection: Top 5

Dante Moore is going to be a good quarterback in the NFL. I almost know this for certain. But the main question is, how good of a quarterback is he going to be? It's the classic "when with" quarterback, or "win because of" quarterback.

But with his accuracy, timing, feel, and the level of his athleticism he already utlizes Moore has a high floor, even at the NFL level. A team should take him early in 2027 and feel very good about handing him the keys to their franchise.
