NFL Mocks Watch: Charlie Becker enters WR2 race, 3 NFL teams should take notice

Indiana wide receiver Charlie Becker entered the season as one of the top prospects at his position in the 2027 NFL Draft class, and through three games, he's showing why his stock could be on the rise.

Becker's five-catch, 127-yard, and one-touchdown performance in Indiana's Week 3 win over Western Kentucky was the latest in what has been an extremely productive start to the season.

In this week's NFL Mocks Watch, we'll analyze whether Becker is simply strengthening his first-round projection or making a legitimate push toward top-10 consideration and WR2 status in the 2027 NFL Draft.

In Indiana's 38-0 win over Western Kentucky, Becker displayed a few key qualities that show he is more than just a deep threat.

Becker is tied for second in college football with six receiving touchdowns so far this season, to go along with his 12 catches for 272 yards.

And while this catch traveled 44 yards in the air, which highlights Becker's ability to get downfield and make plays on the ball, it was his get-off, and what he did after the catch that impressed me.

What Charlie Becker’s highlight showed NFL scouts

The highlight obviously shows Becker's ability to win downfield. But we knew he could do that.

It also shows the rare combination of size and speed. But we also knew that.

What's incredibly impressive about this play is how Becker gets off the line of scrimmage, and what he does after the catch.

Becker used a nice hesitation and release while sidestepping the cornerback to win off the line of scrimmage. Nothing fancy, but it's a smart and effective way to create room without stopping his momentum.

Once he has the ball, he knows what to do with it.

Instead of just going down or running right into the defender, Becker continues his run toward the sideline to create more room. You can even see him change speeds, making it difficult for the cornerback to identify an angle to make the tackle.

For a receiver Becker's size, that's extremely impressive. He changes direction and speed without losing his balance or ability to accelerate.

That's the part of this highlight that should have NFL scouts paying attention.

Charlie Becker’s 2027 NFL Draft stock is trending up

Becker was Indiana's number four receiver last year by catches and touchdowns, and he was still the third- or fourth-ranked wide receiver on many draft boards.

Now he's producing like Indiana's No. 1 or No. 2 option, which changes the conversation.

Becker's real tests will come in a couple of weeks when Indiana faces Ohio State, Michigan, and USC in a four-week stretch. If Becker can maintain a high level of production through those games, it'll go a long way toward cementing his standing as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2027 NFL Draft.

3 NFL teams that should be watching Charlie Becker

The 2027 NFL Draft will be full of quarterbacks at the top, and of course, the first receiver-needy team will be taking Jeremiah Smith.

But not every team that needs a receiver will have a shot at Smith.

That's where Becker becomes interesting.

Miami Dolphins

Why they should be watching: It is well-documented that the Dolphins have a pretty bare receiver room in 2026. Three of their top four receivers by snaps in Week 1 were rookies they took in the third round or later.

If Miami chooses to build around Malik Willis next offseason, instead of replacing him, and they don't have a high enough pick for Jeremiah Smith, Becker could be an excellent complement to the rest of the offense.

Washington Commanders

Why they should be watching: The Washington Commanders got a productive Week 1 from Antonio Williams, but both of their starting outside receivers are over 31 years old.

With Jayden Daniels already in place and a defense with a lot of investments already, Washington could go receiver in the 2027 draft.

Becker would be a great fit in Washington as a 1-2 punch with Williams in the slot, and an option for Daniels to go to deep.

Las Vegas Raiders

Why they should be watching: In the first offseason with head coach Klint Kubiak, the Raiders had to pick and choose where they made their investments.

They obviously drafted Fernando Mendoza first overall, but with the rest of their picks and free-agent signings, they focused on the offensive line and defense.

The wide receiver room needs an infusion of talent to complement Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty next year. And what better way to do it than Mendoza's teammate from 2026 in Becker?
