3 best fits for Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty in the 2025 NFL Draft
Is Ashton Jeanty the most dynamic running back to enter the NFL since Barry Sanders?
Similar in size and elusiveness, Jeanty has not only rushed his way to the top of the Heisman Trophy top candidates list, but he has also led the Boise State Broncos to a Mountain West Championship and potentially a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff.
With 209 yards rushing in the 21-7 win over UNLV, Jeanty further solidified his stance as a top playmaker in the nation as his 2025 NFL Draft stock continues to rise. In all, the Boise State running back has set records and trampled opponents with 2,288 yards rushing for the season. Although just 5-foot-9, Jeanty is a powerful runner with an elite ability to run around and through defenders. Can he take his dominance to the next level?

2025 NFL Draft: There is no gameplan that can stop Ashton Jeanty
College teams had no answer for Jeanty even when they stacked the box to stop him. A prime example was Boise State’s Week 12 matchup with Oregon State. Prior to the game, Beaver’s head coach Trent Bray praised Jeanty and recognized the tough task his team was going to have in stopping one of the top contenders for the Heisman Trophy.
“The kid is just, he’s unbelievable,” Brady said of Jeanty prior to his team’s matchup against Boise state. “You watch the Washington State game, Washington State has him hit in the backfield a bunch, and he just breaks a tackle and creates an explosive run. He’s just a really good player. Tough, physical. He’s tough to stop and he’s really what makes them go, there’s no doubt about it.”
Bray’s squad had no answer for Jeanty as he rushed for 226 yards on 37 carries with a TD in Boise State’s 34-19 win over the Beavers.

3 interesting NFL fits for Ashton Jeanty
Jeanty is a force whenever he touches the ball and there isn’t an NFL team that wouldn’t be enticed to select the nation’s most impactful running back if they had a chance. With his ability to break tackles and dominant a football game, Jeanty will enter the league with a spotlight on him no matter where he lands, but there are three teams the Boise State running back could star on Day 1 in the league. Here is NFL Mocks picks for the best fits for this elite running back.
Dallas Cowboys: With the Cowboys are currently in position to select in early in the midround which would be a perfect opportunity to draft an elite playmaker. Dallas has needs on defense, but this is too perfect of an opportunity to draft one of the most explosive running backs to put on a Cowboys uniform since Ezekiel Elliot in his prime. In Jeanty, they get a running back who could take over on offense and make life much easier for Dak Prescott. There is something very intriguing about the best running back in the nation playing on America’s Team.
Denver Broncos: With Denver, Jeanty would just switch one Broncos uniform for another. Speaking of dominant running backs, the Heisman Trophy candidate would instantly be the most dynamic back the team has had since the days of Terrell Davis as far as potential. This is no shade to Javonte Williams. But even Davis didn’t enter the league with as much buzz as Jeanty would. Give Bo Nix and Sean Payton another playmaker in that offense and watch out AFC West!
Minnesota Vikings: If Jeanty was to slip to later in the first round, the Vikings are an intriguing team for the Boise State running back. The team currently has Aaron Jones running the rock, but with the potential of J.J. McCarthy leading the offense in 2025, a running back like Jeanty could take the pressure off the young quarterback as he has the potential to be as effective and impactful as Dalvin Cook was during his best season in the NFL. Furthermore, he’d be a force in the NFC North.
