2027 NFL Mock Draft: CJ Carr, Julian Sayin add to a deep QB first round
No. 17 Pittsburgh Steelers: CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame
NFL Mocks has been watching CJ Carr closely as his draft stock continues to rise, and NFL scouts will be doing the same throughout the season.
The big question is whether Carr can continue his elite passing efficiency and decision-making when facing pressure. How he handles a heavy pass rush and tougher competition could push him further into the Heisman conversation and even higher on draft boards.
As it stands now, Mike McCarthy and the Steelers nab him at No. 17, which might be considered a steal if Carr's draft stock continues to rise.
No. 18 New York Giants: A'Mauri Washington, DL, Oregon
The Giants are coming off a Week 1 win over their NFC East rivals, the Cowboys, on Sunday night.
While they looked good on both sides of the ball, finding an interior defensive line punisher like the big mountain known as A'Mauri Washington would make that front seven an opposing offense's nightmare, especially if Abdul Carter and Arvell Reese reach their potential.
No. 19 New Orleans Saints: Kewan Lacy, HB, Mississippi
The first running back comes off the board at No. 19 to the New Orleans Saints.
With the selection of Kewan Lacy, the Saints get their Alvin Kamara successor. With his three-down versatility, elusiveness and physical running style, Lacy is one of the top running back prospects in the nation.
With Shough looking like the real deal in Year 2, adding a young lead back like Lacy alongside the wide receiver duo of Chris Olave and 2026 first-round pick Jordyn Tyson could have the Saints' offense marching proudly in the NFC South.
No. 20 Cincinnati Bengals: Trevor Goosby, T, Texas
At No. 20, we continue to link the Bengals to tackle Trevor Goosby, who slides a bit in this draft due to the needs of other teams selecting ahead of Cincinnati.
Noted as an elite pass protector, Goosby throws a strong, well-placed punch that helps keep defenders off his body.
With Orlando Brown Jr. on the left side and Amarius Mims on the right, tackle doesn't appear to be an immediate need for the Bengals. It's the long-term successor to Brown Jr. that fuels this selection.
No. 21 Minnesota Vikings: Julian Sayin, QB, Ohio State
If J.J. McCarthy is the long-term solution in Minnesota, he will need to prove it as the Vikings select Julian Sayin with the No. 21 overall pick.
Sayin, who is among the names in the Heisman race, has looked like a potential top-10 pick through the opening weeks of the 2026 college football season. But given the current draft order, the Vikings get an opportunity to land him in the early 20s.
Sayin would go from throwing the ball to Jeremiah Smith to launching bombs to Justin Jefferson.
Not a bad transition.
No. 22 Las Vegas Raiders: Ryan Coleman-Williams, WR, Alabama
The Raiders are rolling with Kirk Cousins to start the 2026 NFL season, with 2026 No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza waiting for his opportunity.
When Mendoza eventually takes over, he'll have another talented outside receiver to get the ball to with the selection of Ryan Coleman-Williams.
With Jeremiah Smith, Cam Coleman and Charlie Becker demanding most of the attention, the Alabama wide receiver is slipping under the radar. But he is still a first-round talent who could help complete what the Raiders are building offensively by giving them another playmaker with WR1 potential.
No. 23 New York Jets: Kelley Jones, CB, Mississippi State
The Jets get their quarterback, defensive lineman and cornerback in the first round with the selection of Kelley Jones.
There may be some noise over the idea of the Jets selecting David Stone over top cornerback Leonard Moore earlier in the draft, but with three first-round picks, New York has flexibility.
In this mock, the depth at cornerback is greater than the depth along the defensive line. Jones, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound rising cornerback, gets the nod with Ashton Hampton and Zabien Brown still on the board.
No. 24 Seattle Seahawks: Damon Wilson II, ED, Miami
Mike Macdonald injects some youth into his defensive scheme with the selection of Damon Wilson II.
This marks another Miami edge rusher to land in the first round following Rueben Bain Jr. and Akeem Mesidor. Wilson has similar pass-rushing ability, but where he may fall later in this draft — or even out of the first round — is because of his run defense.
However, Macdonald may see a way to utilize Wilson's size and athleticism to his advantage.
