Trevor Goosby is a senior offensive tackle for the Texas Longhorns. He is in his second season as the team’s starting left tackle after seeing a little over 300 snaps at both left and right tackle as a sophomore.
He attended Melissa High School in Melissa, Texas, where he was a three-star recruit.
Goosby tested the waters about going into the 2026 NFL Draft last winter before deciding to return to school. In doing so, he has positioned himself as "OT1" at the start of the football season.
Goosby is already a fantastic pass-protector and has excellent size and length for the position. But some questions in the run game could leave the door open for another lineman to be drafted first next April.
Off the field, Goosby has an inspiring story. In 2021, he was diagnosed with an atrial septal defect, a congenital heart condition. He underwent successful open-heart surgery in 2022 to repair the condition and has had no issues since.
He now uses his platform to raise awareness of heart disease in children and supports research through The Children's Heart Foundation.

What are Trevor Goosby's biggest strengths?
- In pass protection, Goosby shows strength and is very physical with his upper body. He throws a strong punch that is quick and well-placed to keep defenders off his body.
- If he doesn't land a punch, he latches on quickly, establishes an anchor, and can throw a defender to the ground.
- He has very good feet as well, which are always moving. Whether that's to maintain balance with a "hop" technique or to slide up the arc to push the defender away from the pocket.
- Is always looking for work. If he doesn't have his own rusher, he'll find someone nearby and put them down.
- In the run game, his strengths are using that same size, strength, and coordination.
- He quickly latches on a defender and can turn him either direction to create a run lane.
- He's effective on down blocks with his strength and balance. That combination allows him to move defenders without falling.
- And skilled at combo blocks because of his quick feet and hand-eye coordination.
- His size and athleticism also allow him to be a useful blocker in space.
Where can Trevor Goosby improve?
- Due to his length, Goosby doesn't have a natural anchor or leverage to his game, meaning everything he does is with the upper body.
- This means he tends to use his arms more than his core or legs to engage defenders, causing him to lean and lose balance at times.
- In pass protection, this only shows up on the rare occasion he totally misses a punch or a defender gets out of his grip.
- This problem arises more in the run game, where Goosby doesn't generate a lot of vertical push on his own. He can turn and displace defenders, but doesn't truly move them.
- This can hold Goosby back from being a true point-of-attack blocker in the run game at the next level.
- And while he is useful as a blocker in space, he's not proficient at it. He can get to the second or third level and be in the way, but he does not engage in a block. Not sure if this is a conditioning issue or more of a body control issue at his height.
NFL Draft Projection
The goal for Goosby right now is to be the first lineman drafted in April. And unless there's a major fall-off this season, at worst, he will be a first-round pick.
The ability in pass protection provides too high a floor for him to fall out of the first round. Even if he never becomes a dominant run blocker, teams need good pass protection at tackle every year.
NFL Pro Comparison
Several names come to mind for a comp for Goosby, but the top one right now is Ronnie Stanley.
Stanley is a good athlete with excellent hand use. He has the length and punch timing/accuracy that we see in Goosby. And his feet are quick enough to mirror edge rushers and stay balanced.
And while Stanley is effective in the run game and has improved as he's gotten older and stronger, it's not the strength of his game. And, like Goosby, he's not a point-of-attack blocker in that phase, but still an effective player.

Goosby gets a 90 grade for me as a player I would take in the first round. His pass protection and overall athletic profile provide a high floor for the position.
If Goosby can show improved strength and technique in a few areas of his game, he could climb even higher and into the "blue-chip" category. For now, he settles in as a very good offensive line prospect in the 2027 NFL Draft class.
