2027 NFL Mock Draft: First-round talent falls into place
No. 11 Washington Commanders: Charlie Becker, WR, Indiana
The Commanders look like they may have hit on rookie wide receiver Antonio Williams, who was selected with the No. 71 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. But with Terry McLaurin on the other side of 30, adding another young weapon for Jayden Daniels makes sense.
That weapon is Charlie Becker, who is the type of big-play receiver Daniels will love. Following a breakout season at Indiana in 2025, Becker is high on the radar as one of the top-five receivers entering the 2027 NFL Draft.
No. 12 New York Giants: David Stone, DL, Oklahoma
The New York Giants add beef and physicality to the interior of their defensive line with the selection of Oklahoma’s David Stone with the No. 12 overall pick. With Dexter Lawrence no longer anchoring the middle, Stone gives New York another young building block up front.
As a disruptor in the interior of the line, Stone’s combination of quickness and power along with his size will make the Lawrence trade a win for a Giants team that would then have a front seven featuring the young foundation of Stone, Abdul Carter and 2026 top-five pick Arvell Reese.
No. 13 New York Jets: Ellis Robinson IV, CB, Georgia
After landing their QB with their top pick, the Jets use the second of three first-round picks to address question marks in the secondary. That leads them to Georgia’s Ellis Robinson IV.
The Jets get their Sauce Gardner replacement in the 6-foot-0, 180-pound Robinson, who enters 2026 ranked as the No. 2 cornerback on most 2027 NFL Draft big boards. As a ball-hawking defender with elite coverage skills, Robinson gives the Jets an immediate CB1.
No. 14 Minnesota Vikings: Julian Sayin, QB, Ohio State
What does the selection of Julian Sayin mean for J.J. McCarthy? Well, if the Vikings are taking a quarterback in the middle of the first round, they are looking for more consistency from the position and a player who can excel under the guidance of Kevin O’Connell.
Sayin’s size could be a reason he slides, but he is a QB used to getting the ball down the field to elite wide receivers like the OSU duo of Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate in 2025. He’ll have that in Justin Jefferson in Minnesota.
No. 15 Jacksonville Jaguars: Will Echoles, DL, Ole Miss
The Jacksonville Jaguars project to have a big need at defensive tackle come the 2027 NFL Draft, and Ole Miss star Will Echoles fills that need.
At 6-foot-3, 310 pounds, Echoles is an elite run stuffer who can also get after the passer due to his quickness and athleticism. He will be a good fit for a Jaguars team that will be looking to rebuild the interior of its defensive line.
No. 16 New York Jets: Ryan Coleman-Williams, WR, Alabama
After getting their quarterback in Darian Mensah and adding Ellis Robinson IV to the secondary, the Jets use their third first-round pick to add more explosiveness on the offensive side of the ball.
Ryan Coleman-Williams gives the team a trio of Garrett Wilson, Omar Cooper Jr. and Coleman-Williams at receiver along with the duo of Kenyon Sadiq and Mason Taylor at tight end. The key is Coleman-Williams morphing back into the playmaker he was during his freshman season. If he does that and shows growth at the position, he is an underrated receiver in this draft who could make a big impact in the right situation.
No. 17 Dallas Cowboys: Nick Marsh, WR, Indiana
The Cowboys move on from George Pickens with the No. 17 overall pick and find another complement to CeeDee Lamb with Indiana wide receiver Nick Marsh. He is also the second Hoosiers wide receiver to go off the board in the first round.
With great size at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Marsh is a physical wide receiver who goes up and grabs catches with defenders draped over him. He has also showcased an ability to break tackles and create yards after the catch.
No. 18 Cincinnati Bengals: Trevor Goosby, T, Texas
This draft is so deep that the first elite offensive tackle doesn’t go off the board until the middle of the first round. That is great news for a Bengals team that needs to continue protecting Joe Burrow.
The selection of Trevor Goosby will have Burrow smiling ear to ear. With the size, length, physicality and mobility to instantly become one of the best tackles in the NFL, Goosby gives Cincinnati a long-term protector for its franchise QB. The fact that the Bengals get him at No. 18 will have the fanbase thrilled.
No. 19 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jayden Maiava, QB, USC
With Baker Mayfield entering the final year of his three-year, $100 million contract, the Buccaneers will have an interesting decision to make if the two sides can’t come to an agreement and Mayfield hits free agency.
Whether they keep him or move on, the organization taps into this talented QB class with Jayden Maiava, the seventh quarterback off the board. Maiava has the elite arm talent and prototypical size to be an option down the road, if not in 2027, for the Buccaneers.
No. 20 Chicago Bears: Yhonzae Pierre, EDGE, Alabama
The Bears add depth to their defensive line at the edge rusher position with the selection of Alabama’s Yhonzae Pierre at No. 20.
As a long-term option, Pierre is an emerging edge-rushing prospect with high upside. Coming off a breakout sophomore season in which he accounted for 52 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 8.0 sacks, this Alabama defensive star should be a first-round lock if he puts together a season that tops that production.
