It's never too early to get ready for the next NFL Draft, is it? A popular exercise and tradition every year after the NFL draft is the "way too early mock draft" for 2027.
These mocks are intended to be fun exercises for entertainment more than education, but there's always something to learn.
So this year, let's take a look at some of the top players from these mocks to introduce ourselves to some of the top names, and also look back at this list throughout the process for 2027 and see who rises and falls.
This list is based on a consensus I created after looking at mocks from Todd McShay, Dane Brugler, and Jordan Reid.
The future franchise QBs leading the 2027 NFL Draft
1. Arch Manning, Texas
This name isn't a surprise. The legacy quarterback showed improvement throughout his first year as a starter at Texas in 2025.
At 6'4 with good athleticism, Manning has all of the tools needed to play quarterback in the NFL.
With another year of improvement he could absolutely be the first overall pick in the 2027 NFL draft.
2. Dante Moore, Oregon
Dante Moore could have come out in the 2026 draft and been a top-two selection. But he elected to go back to Oregon for one more year.
He's got a good arm to all parts of the field and is a good enough athlete to move in and out of the pocket.
As long as he plays on time, Moore looks every bit the part of an NFL quarterback.
3. CJ Carr, Notre Dame
In what everyone hopes to be a loaded quarterback class in 2027, there are about seven or eight names to keep an eye on as potential first-rounders.
But CJ Carr was the only other quarterback after Manning and Moore to be on all three analysts' mock drafts.
Carr is sort of the new name on the scene, after his first year starting in 2025. But signs are pointing to him being in the first-round conversation if he comes out in 2027.
