2027 NFL mock draft: Matching 7 quarterbacks with teams

We won't do a full mock draft, and we won't pick a quarterback for all 14 of the teams we discussed, but let's match some quarterbacks and franchises based on what we've seen through four weeks of the NFL season! The team order will be determined by Tankathon.

In this projection, the Houston Texans hold on to C.J. Stroud and select Jeremiah Smith first overall. That leaves the New York Jets with the opportunity to move up from No. 6 overall in a trade with the Tennessee Titans.

Tennessee opts to move down, pick up another first-rounder, and continue to build around Cam Ward.

No. 2 New York Jets (via trade) - Arch Manning

So far this season, none of the quarterback prospects have pulled away as the clear QB1 of this class, so we'll go with Arch Manning for having the best combination of traits.

No. 5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Dante Moore

The Buccaneers pull the plug and draft Dante Moore to sit behind Baker for a year as they move into a new phase of the franchise.

Moore is still my QB2 with good arm talent and decision-making.

No. 9 Arizona Cardinals - Darian Mensah

Arizona sits and picks Darian Mensah, who has just enough playmaking and accuracy to squeak into the top ten.

No. 11 Cleveland Browns (via trade) - CJ Carr

The Browns use their two first-round picks to move up ahead of the Steelers and Eagles to take CJ Carr.

Carr feels like the perfect fit for Todd Monken with his ability to read defenses and play on time.

No. 26 New York Giants - Drew Mestemaker

John Harbaugh and the Giants take a swing on Drew Mestemaker, who is an intriguing prospect who could compete with Dart long-term if Dart can't stay healthy.

No. 32 Minnesota Vikings - Trinidad Chambliss

Minnesota goes back to the rookie contract quarterback well with Trinidad Chambliss, who is having another fun and productive college season, but questions about his overall profile push him down the board.

No. 43 Indianapolis Colts - Jayden Maiava

And finally, with their first pick of the draft in the second round, the Colts take a swing on Jayden Maiava, who has a strong arm, but questions about his mobility and upside push him out of the first round.

This exercise shows just how much the quarterback landscape has changed in one month.

Last month, the hype for this quarterback class was so high that I put six quarterbacks in the first 15 picks. This time, only four go that early, with two more coming off the board late in the first round and another in the second.

We will continue to track the quarterback prospects and NFL teams that may need to draft those prospects throughout the college football and NFL seasons and report back next month with an update.
