The New York Giants are watching 2025 NFL Draft first round pick Jaxson Dart show that he is the future of the organization at the quarterback position.  Can they continue to build the offense around him?

After two massive blows this season in losing outstanding wide receiver Malik Nabers and outstanding rookie running back Cam Skattebo to season ending injuries, the Giants will have a lot to look forward to in 2026 when both return healthy.  They may also be destined to add another big weapon to the mix.

Currently in a position to secure a top 5 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Giants could set up one of the more dynamic wide receiver duos in all the NFL.  Could the Giants pair Nabers up with Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate or Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson?

CBS Sports NFL Mock Draft: Giants select Carnell Tate with No. 5 overall pick

In his latest NFL Mock Draft, CBS Sportswriter Ryan Wilson gives the Giants the perfect No. 2 receiver.

Tate, who has been one of the hottest wide receivers in college football, would be a prime addition for Dart and the Giants offense.  Paired with Jeremiah Smith, Tate has been uncoverable this season at Ohio State.  Imagine what he can do in an offense with a health Nabers?  Wilson sets the stage for exactly what could evolve in the Big Apple if the Giants select Tate.

He writes:

“Tate is a long strider with a big catch radius and reliable hands who makes contested catches downfield look easy. He flashes quickness and short-area agility to create separation at the top of his route and has the ability to make defenders miss after the catch. His ball-tracking, route-running, and ability to operate in space make him a Day 1 impact player at the next level.”

This would be a great pick for the Giants.  The question is whether Tate is the best receiver entering the 2026 NFL Draft.  If Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson or USC’s Makai Lemon are on the board when the Giants select, is Tate the better option?

It may not be whether he’s the better option, but the best fit for a Giants’ offense that will already have Nabers. And if Nabers is not 100 percent, can Tate manifest as a featured option in the offense?  Due to his route-running and big catch radius, the answer is yes.  Through Week 10 of the college football season, Tate has 39 receptions for 711 yards and 7 touchdowns.  That includes a big performance against Penn State where he took the top off the defense twice.  His ability to be a big impact wide receiver is catching the eye of many NFL scouts looking for wide receiver help.

Fox Sports NFL Mock Draft: Giants pair Jaxson Dart up with Jordyn Tyson

While Wilson’s prediction of Tate as a top 10 pick could be a bit of a reach, Fox Sports has the Giants sticking with the top receiver in Tyson who is more of a physical wide receiver.  Like Tate, he is a savvy route runner with outstanding ball skills, but questions about his durability could shy a team like the Giants away.

Still, with the talent Tyson possesses, he would also be an outstanding fit in the Giants’ offense.

NFL Draft analyst Rob Rang writes:

“Though he’s just 2-3 as a starter, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has energized the Giants, providing hope that the club might have found its next star quarterback. If so, New York should be sure to protect its investment by adding more weapons. Tyson’s savvy route-running and suddenness would make him an ideal fit opposite a healthy Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo.”

The plus here is that could be reunited with former Arizona State teammate Skattebo which would mark for an easier transition into the NFL.

So, Carnell Tate or Jordyn Tyson for the New York Giants?

NFL Mocks has the Giants sticking with defense by selecting Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, however either of those two wide receivers would be great picks for the Giants.  It will depend on the health of Nabers.  If he is close to 100 percent by the time the 2026 NFL season begins, Tate is a better No. 2 option.  If not, Tyson might be more impactful as a featured option until Nabers can return to his full self.
