The Philadelphia Eagles dropped to 8-5 following a Monday Night loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.  Although the defending Super Bowl champions remain atop the NFC East, the loss has them just two games ahead of the Dallas Cowboys in the division.

While turnovers were a key in the 22-19 overtime loss, the Eagles’ offense continues to be an issue with the team scoring just one touchdown in regulation.  Although sloppy on offense, the Eagles got big plays out of stars like Saquon Barkley and A.J. Brown, the latter of which may not be back on the team in 2026.

When looking at the Eagles need when it comes to the 2026 NFL Draft, adding a tight end to the mix could help the offense as well as a wide receiver to possibly replace Brown.  The team is also in need of a No. 2 cornerback.  Which of those two needs are first round priorities?

One NFL Mock Draft has the team prioritizing the cornerback position.

CBS NFL Mock Draft: Eagles land highly rated corner in late first round

In his latest NFL Mock Draft, CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards, the Eagles find their No. 2 cornerback in LSU’s Mansoor Delane.  Not only would the Eagles find a competitive corner to play opposite Quinyon Mitchell, but the addition would also allow the team to keep Cooper DeJean in the slot position.

Edwards writes:

“The cornerback role opposite Quinyon Mitchell has been an adventure, which is not all that unexpected. Mansoor Delane's presence would allow them to keep Cooper DeJean in the slot. It would not be surprising if the team parted with A.J. Brown this season and pursued a wide receiver in Round 1 as well.”

Given the team’s offensive struggles, the overreaction will be to go offense.  The Eagles could use free agency, trades and the rest of the draft to tweak offensive needs.  At the position they will likely select in the 2026 NFL Draft, a player like Delane would be hard to pass up given his competitive nature as a defender and his scheme versatility.  Delane can play outside corner, nickel and/or safety.

PFF NFL Mock Draft agrees with the Mansoor Delane pick

In looking at other Mocks for the Eagles, PFF also has the Eagles selecting Delane as a third cornerback option to Mitchell and Cooper.  Could the LSU prospect help form a solid defensive back trio in Philly?

PFF’ Trevor Sikkema writes:

“The Eagles have two stud cornerbacks in Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, but whoever has filled the third cornerback spot has been picked on over the past two years. If they were able to snag Delane, who earned an 89.1 coverage grade in the SEC this past season, to complete their nickel cornerback trio, it would give them a top-tier unit.”

What is NFL Mocks’ selection for the Philadelphia Eagles?

The Mansoor Delane pick for the Eagles is nothing to sneeze at, but there’s a chance he won’t be around when the Eagles select.  Given the offensive struggles and the ongoing drama with A.J. Brown, NFL Mocks has the Eagles selecting Denzel Boston out of the University of Washington.  A big, strong receiver who is competitive going up for the ball, Boston is a solid replacement for Brown if that marriage does finally end in the offseason.

At 6-foot-4, 209 pounds, Boston is a solid route runner who would be Jalen Hurts another big target.  There is some sneaky depth at wide receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft, so the Eagles could get a solid receiver on Day 2.  Other than Boston, some players to keep an eye on is Louisville’s Chris Bell and Tennessee wide receiver Chris Brazzell II.

So, who should it be for the Eagles with their top overall pick?

A potential No. 2 corner in Mansoor Delane or another big-bodied receiver in Denzel Boston?
