2026 NFL Mock Draft No. 21-25: Steelers, Rams join the QB frenzy

No. 21: Pittsburgh Steelers – Fernando Mendoza., QB, Indiana
The Steelers do not pass up on a quarterback in this draft. With the No. 21 overall pick, Pittsburgh will have a decision between John Mateer and Fernando Mendoza. They go with Mendoza who, like Mateer, has been rising up the NFL Draft big board. With ideal quarterback size at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds and a strong arm, Mendoza takes care of the Steelers QB needs.
No. 22: Los Angeles Rams via Atlanta – John Mateer, QB, Oklahoma
The Rams use the first of their two first round picks on a QB, and they go with John Mateer to replace Matthew Stafford. Sean McVay and company will have the luxury of sitting Mateer as they do have Jimmy Garoppolo and preseason str Stetson Bennett IV who can step in if Stafford hangs it up sooner rather than later. The Rams aren’t desperate to select a QB here, but with two first round picks, its smart to dip into this talented quarterback class.
No. 23: Los Angeles Rams – Austin Barber, T, Florida
With their second first rounder, the Rams take care of their offensive line with the selection of Florida’s Austin Barber. As one of the top tackles in the draft, Barber brings versatility to the mix as he can play both tackle positions with force and agility. He is also great in zone blocking.
No. 24: Arizona Cardinals – Denzel Boston, WR, Washington
The Cardinals add another wide receiver to the mix with the selection of Denzel Boston. Although 2024 NFL Draft first round pick Marvin Harrison Jr. is not having the Year 2 jump as expected, adding a secondary option like Boston should help free up more targets for Harrison Jr. Similar in size, Boston would provide another big target in the Cardinals’ offense to go along with MHJ and Trey McBride.
No. 25: Buffalo Bills – LT Overton, ED, Alabama
With Joey Bosa on just a one-year deal, the Buffalo Bills use their first-round pick on edge rusher LT Overton. The Alabama star has just 1 sack so far in 2025, but his blend of size, athleticism and power makes him worth a late-first round pick to take a chance on for the Bills. The team could double-dip at this position later in the draft.
