The 2025 NFL Draft class will be filled with elite wide receiver talent once again.

With its an outside X receiver or a top slot performer, this draft should deliver for teams looking for playmakers at this much aligned skilled position.  In a draft class that features Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, the depth at the wide receiver position could move some elite talent back to intriguing teams either later in the first round or Day 2 or Day 3 of the draft.

2025 NFL Draft wide receiver class is poised to make an instant impact

Which receivers stand out at the conclusion of the college football regular season?  Well, this list goes beyond stats.  Its about which players can be game changers at the next level and which playmakers can make an impact Day 1 in the NFL.

Here are NFL Mock’s top 5 wide receiver prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft.

1. Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona Wildcats

2024 Stats: Receptions 84 | Yards: 1,319 | Avg: 15.7| TD: 8

The top receiver in 2024 was no doubt Arizona Wildcats wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.  Following another outstanding season with 1,329 yards receiving, McMillan is a sure top 10 bet who if paired with a young, rising quarterback will be special at the NFL level.

If not for a 4-8 season for Arizona, the hype around McMillan could be even higher.  Still, the possibility of pairing him with a QB like Drake Maye is intriguing and could give a team like the Patriots that elite No. 1 receiver they have been searching for.  Not to put too much pressure on McMillan, but his prototypical size (6-foot-5, 212 pounds) at the position combined with his savvy route running makes him the perfect X receiver for any young QB.

Draft projection: Early First Round

2.   Travis Hunter, Colorado Buffaloes

2024 Stats: Receptions 92| Yards: 1,152 | Avg: 12.5| TD: 14

The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner was everything for the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024.  On both sides of the ball, he displayed his elite athleticism and playmaking skills as both one of the top cornerback and wide receiver in the nation.

A two-way star, the only reason Hunter is not No. 1 on this list is because of his ability as a two-position threat. With 1,152 yards receiving, an NFL team that drafts him would be crazy not to use him as a receiver, but at the same time, lockdown corners are hard to find so Hunter could be drafted as more of a corner at the NFL level.  Still, it’s hard to ignore his impact on offense and the kind of target he would be in any offense.

3. Tre Harris, Ole Miss Rebels

2024 Stats: Receptions 60 | Yards: 1,030 | Avg: 17.2| TD: 7

Tre Harris has risen up the wide receiver rankings after a stellar season at Ole Miss.  Catching the ball from Jaxton Dart this past season, Harris hauled in 60 receptions for 1,030 yards and 7 touchdowns. A physical outside receiver with a strong release off the line, Harris is a playmaker who will make an immediate impact in the NFL if drafted by the right team.

Although there will be smaller, quicker receivers taken ahead of him. Harris’ deep threat ability will intrigue teams to consider him higher than he will be taken.  His physical style of play and versatility makes him a perfect fit for teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs as a late first round or second round option at the wide receiver position.

Draft projection: second round

4. Luther Burden III, Missouri Tigers

2024 Stats: Receptions 61 | Yards: 676 | Avg: 11.1| TD: 6

Missouri’s Luther Burden III was slotted as the top receiver threat prior to the season, but injuries slowed him down in 2024.  In fact, that was the only thing that could slow down a speedster like Burden III, who proved when health, how much of a threat on offense he is.

Despite just 675 yards receiving, the potential of Burden III is what will still make him a first-round pick who could end up on playoff contending team depending on where in the middle of the draft he is taken.  Ideal for a team like the Cincinnati Bengals, Burden’s explosiveness and yards after the catch makes him an intriguing fit for offenses that like to get the ball out quick and allow the skill players to make plays.  The Denver Broncos are a team that fit that mold as well.

Draft projection: First round

5. Xavier Restrepo, Miami Hurricanes

2024 Stats: Carries 69 | Yards: 1,127 | Avg: 16.3 | TD: 11

Miami’s Xavier Restrepo will be a steal in the draft if he is still on the board following Day 2.  As a prime target of Cam Ward, Restrepo led the Hurricanes in receiving yards with 1,127.  Although not an outside receiver threat, Restrepo will be a reliable pass catcher from the slot and a player who has yards after the catch ability due to his football instincts and route running.

Though not as explosive as a Burden III or the receivers not on this list, his quickness off the line of scrimmage and overall tenacity as a pass catcher will spell for instant NFL success if he lands on the right team in the right situation.

Draft projection: 3rd round
