AFC East battle: Miami Dolphins vs New England Patriots on #SNF

The Miami Dolphins head to Foxborough to take on the New England Patriots in a Week 2 AFC East showdown on Sunday Night Football.  After losing a close one to the Philadelphia Eagles last week, Bill Belichick, Mac Jones and the crew really need this one to avoid starting the season at 0-2.

On the flip side, Tua Tagovaiola, Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins are looking to remain undefeated after a 36-34 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.  With a win in Foxboro, the Dolphins could stake their early hold on the AFC East with back-to-back road victories to star the season.

Will the Patriots’ defense have something to say about that?

Tagovaiola has had Belichick’s number the last few seasons, so the Patriots head coach is due to deliver a gameplan that stifles the Dolphins quarterback.  Obviously, any success the defense has against the Dolphins will depend on maintaining the explosiveness of Hill who went over the 200-yard mark receiving vs the Chargers.

The Patriots have had success in past games with Jonathan Jones on Hill, but to truly disrupt the Dolphins’ offense, the Patriots front seven will have to get to Tua often and early.  They did a good job with Jalen Hurts and a similar offense in Week 1.  The real challenge will be Mac Jones and the Patriots’ offense vs a Dolphins defense that can be opportunistic.

Two early mistakes on offense set the tone for the 25-20 loss a week ago.  The Patriots need to avoid those mistakes in this AFC East showdown as the offense hopes to build off some momentum gained in nearly pulling off a comeback victory against the Eagles.

Prediction: With Gillette Stadium buzzing on Sunday night, the Patriots beat the Dolphins 27-17 on a wild night in Foxborough.
