AFC East watch: Bills star Stefon Diggs talks offseason drama
One of the biggest questions in the AFC East this season is whether the Buffalo Bills will live up to expectations. A lot of that will depend on the happiness or unhappiness of star wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
The dynamic wide receiver has always been outspoken about the state of his football teams. That outspoken nature drove him out of Minnesota and could drive him out of Buffalo if things the team isn’t living up to expectations.
After finishing Monday night’s loss to the Jets with 10 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown, Diggs is clearly making a statement on the field, but what message is he trying to send off the field? There has been rumblings in the offseason about possible tension between Diggs and quarterback Josh Allen. Tensions that Diggs opened up about during an appearance on The Von Cast hosted by teammate Von Miller who asked the question to clear the air.
"“Yeah cause, you’re going after the 20-game season. Your last image of me and Josh was after the fourth down. A picture is worth a thousand words, so you can garnish whatever you want from that image and create a narrative behind it and it will fit,” Diggs said. “Offseason, there’s no football being played, it’s just a lot of commentary, he or she says. For me, I feel like the comments and sentiment was I wanted to leave but I never said that. It never came out of my mouth, I never had a conversation with anybody.”"
But sometimes body language does the talking. Diggs is a player very passionate about football and the disappointment of losing can sour any relationship between a quarterback and receiver when the outcome is not victory.

Diggs also has to deal with a perception put out there about him as a self-centered player. Bills reporter Maddy Glab was heard calling Diggs someone who “is going to do what he wants to do.” The overheard comments were described as “hurtful” by Diggs who feels the media and fans confuse his competitive nature on the field with who he is as a person.
Just adds more to the question of whether Diggs will remain in a Bills’ uniform, which could obviously change the complexion of the franchise and the AFC East.
