The narrative in the AFC East for the 2023 NFL season took a quick turn Monday Night when Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury.  The New York Jets opened up about a recovery timeline this week.  Also opening was Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs about offseason drama, and we look at the Dolphins vs Patriots Sunday night showdown.

Can the Jets have nice things?

Well, one of the most hyped debuts in the NFL this season took a quick hit when Rodgers went down with an injury just minutes into the Jets’ 22-16 overtime victory over the Bills.  While the night ended victorious, the injury to Rodgers took the life out of MetLife Stadium.  The sudden turn of events opened another opportunity for Jets 2021 first-round pick Zach Wilson, but the season-ending injury has Jets fans asking what’s next at the QB position?

Furthermore, will Rodgers step on the field in a Jets’ uniform again?

Well, early indications is that the veteran quarterback plans to play again in 2024. Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday, Rodgers not only voiced his appreciation for the support of Jets fans, he also gave Jets Nation a glimpse of optimism as far as his rehab plan and recovery timeline.

"“There’s a lot of different ideas about the overall length of the rehab, I think what I’d like to say is, just because nobody’s ever done it in a certain way doesn’t mean it’s not possible,” Rodgers said, as transcribed by NFL.com. “I definitely have some odds stacked against me based on age, but I like it. Stack all the odds up against me and see what happens. “My entire focus and dedication is about acquiring the most information and adding to what I’ve already put together as a pretty damn good rehab plan that’s going to, I think, shock some people.”"

In the meantime, the New York Jets will move forward in the AFC East tied for first place after Week 1.  The search for a Aaron Rodgers replacement will continue, but the team’s approach to the season will now focus on a running game led by Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook and a defense that is capable of being a top 5 defense in the NFL.

Both sides of the ball will face a tremendous challenge in Week 2 going up against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday afternoon.
