AFC East rumors: Dolphins didn’t land Jonathan Taylor…yet

Another player placed on the reserve/PUP list was Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor which means he also won’t be available the first four weeks of the season.  It also means he couldn’t find a trade prior to that deadline on Tuesday.

That also means he won’t start the season in a Miami Dolphins uniform, as the team was rumored to be hot and heavy on a Taylor trade. This could still happen once Taylor is eligible, but for now the Dolphins will roll with Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. at the top of that running back depth chart.

While a Taylor trade didn’t happen, the Dolphins were still involved in an interesting trade prior to the 53-man roster cutdown deadline.

In a deal with the Dallas Cowboys, the Dolphins acquired 2021 second-round pick Kelvin Joseph in exchange for 2020 first-round pick Noah Igbinoghene as both cornerbacks will get an opportunity to live up to expectations in new environments.

In Joseph, the Dolphins get a player who had a strong preseason and looks like a defensive back who is figuring things out after a tumultuous 2022 season.  Joseph joins a cornerback depth chart that feature Xavien Howard and Jalen Ramsey who will be out until December.  The former 2021 high-round pick will get an opportunity to prove his value in Ramsey’s absence.
