NFC East Buzz: Zach Martin contract, Giants edge duo and Eagles-Donald rumors?
NFC East rumors: Is Aaron Donald joining the Philadelphia Eagles possible?
With all those trade rumors and rumblings surrounding the Los Angeles Rams, All-Pro defensive stud Aaron Donald could be a name to watch around the NFL Trade Deadline if not before.
If the Rams struggle and trend towards another losing season, Donald could want out and want to play for a contender in his 10th NFL season. The Philadelphia Eagles is a team that stands out and just image that defense with the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year?
The possibility should excite fans in Philly, but is it realistic?
Bleacher Report adds a little realism on this possible trade idea with the Eagles offering up a 2024 first-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick for Donald. A steep price? For a team already solid at the position, Donald could do more than just deliver a Super Bowl.
B/R’s Alex Kay writes:
"“The move might look a tad redundant on paper due to the presence of players like Fletcher Cox and Jordan Davis, but Donald’s presence would make this defensive line near-unstoppable. He’d also be the perfect player to bridge the gap between the aging veterans and the team’s next wave of defensive line stars like first-round rookie Jalen Carter and 2021 third-rounder Milton Williams.”"
Donald helping young players like Davis and Carter is the biggest value of a trade that would likely cost the Eagles a lot. It may even take one of those young defensive players to lore Donald away from the Rams without giving up too much draft capital.
