Super Bowl Reason No. 3: Mike McCarthy Trusts Coordinators

As we touched on briefly, Mike McCarthy is the man steering the ship. He is a Super Bowl winner, thanks to a historic run by Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in 2010. Since then, McCarthy has suffered some embarrassing collapses.

This is what makes No. 3 on our list so vital to Dallas’ success. In order for McCarthy to exercise his demons, he must lean heavily on his coaching staff, namely defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

Now, I already know what you’re thinking. Yes, McCarthy made it clear that he will be calling the plays on offense in 2023. However, this decision shouldn’t mean that Schottenheimer has no say in the process.

One area of criticism McCarthy has faced in recent years is his unwillingness to defer to his staff. To avoid similar shortcomings faced in the past, it would be wise for the Cowboys’ head coach to allow other voices in the room.

That is something Quinn is never shy about offering. He is a vocal, passionate leader of the defense who will make sure his voice is heard when a game plan is being crafted. Together, the trio has the power to boost Dallas back into Super Bowl relevancy. If McCarthy tries to bogart duties… that is when things could get ugly.
